During the three decades in which Jorge Machnizh has been a key player in the oil and gas industry, he became increasingly aware that it needed a recognised global organisation to provide solutions for the many security challenges it faced and for the industry to secure access to oil and gas reserves and meet increasing global energy demand. So, when G4S approached him to spearhead its new secure solutions strategy for the industry, he took on the challenge with enthusiasm.

“I believe the time is ripe for a company of G4S’s size and reputation to help consolidate those business critical activities,” Jorge adds, “and I am delighted to have been asked to head this initiative .
I will be looking at the type of strategies that are needed and then developing industry targeted integrated solutions leveraging state of the art technologies ,best qualified people and processes to address the opportunities that will arise from establishing long-term business relationships aligned with our customers’ goals and objectives.”

On announcing Jorge’s appointment in October 2009, Graham Levinsohn, G4S Group strategy and development director, explained: “Jorge was born into the oil business and is a world-recognised leader. He has an inherent understanding of the industry, how it works and the key players within it. His scientific and technological expertise, coupled with his impressive track record in business and ability to deliver growth and profits, will be key to helping G4S unlock the long-term potential that exists in this sector.”

For Jorge Machnizh, whose parents met and married while working at an Esso (now Exxon) oil production camp in Argentina, it was a natural decision to study geology and work in the industry. He has travelled extensively worldwide and is based in Houston, Texas, US.
