Thorleif Krarup, a non executive director of G4S plc, will retire from the board with effect from 31 January 2011. Mr Krarup has served on the G4S board since May 2004 and intended to retire at the conclusion of the company’s 2011 annual general meeting. He has however brought that decision forward to the end of January as he has been invited to join the board of Falck A/S as vice chairman and so will leave G4S to avoid any potential for conflict of duties which might arise as a result.

Commenting on Mr Krarup’s resignation, G4S plc’s chairman, Alf Duch-Pedersen, said: “On behalf of the rest of the board, I would like to thank Thorleif for his contribution to the company since its formation in 2004 and in particular for chairing our audit committee for four years. We wish him well in his new role.”
