G4S wins three Work Programme contracts to deliver welfare-to-work services 01 April 2011
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has today announced that G4S Welfare to Work will manage Work Programme contracts in three areas across the UK
The announcement of successful providers was made by Minister for Employment, Chris Grayling.
The Work Programme, the Government’s new scheme for helping unemployed people back into sustained employment, will begin in the summer of 2011 and is a key part of the Government’s flagship welfare reforms.
The announcement means that G4S will be responsible for managing welfare-to-work services to help people move from unemployment and into sustained jobs, in:
- North West - Greater Manchester and Cheshire
- South East - Kent, Surrey and Sussex
- Yorkshire and The Humber - North East Yorkshire and The Humber
Sean Williams, Managing Director of G4S Welfare to Work, said:
“G4S Welfare to Work is delighted to have won these contracts to manage the Work Programme across the UK. We believe our unique and innovative approach will support more individuals into sustained employment.
“The Work Programme has the potential to change the lives of hundreds of thousands of unemployed people and their families across the country.
“We are delivering the Work Programme in partnership with hundreds of local, specialist organisations who are best-placed to support people into jobs. Over 40% of these organisations are from the voluntary sector, demonstrating the enormous role they will play in the G4S Work Programme.
“We believe that through the Work Programme, we have the potential to support more people into sustained employment than ever before.”
