Sprinter Obinna Metu posts qualifying time for London 2012

Top Nigerian sprinter and G4S 4teen athlete Obinna Metu has become the fifth G4S 4teen member to qualify for this summer’s London 2012 Olympic Games. Competing at the All Nigeria Cross River Athletics Championships in Calabar this week Obinna has proven himself to be the fastest man in Nigeria winning both the 100m and 200m finals.

The three time national champion put in a fantastic performance to reclaim his title in a hotly contested 100m with a time of 10.11seconds. Obinna then went on to win gold in the 200m with a run of 20.91 seconds at the national Olympic trials outpacing the other athletes from the starting blocks.

With the support of G4S 4teen programme Obinna has had the opportunity to attend a training camp in Jamaica alongside the world fastest man Usain Bolt and other athletes.

The support that Obinna has received from G4S has been invaluable in helping him achieve his goals and we wish him the best of luck representing Nigeria in London this summer.
