The award has been presented to G4S, the world’s largest security company, after CRF measured the Group’s performance in Africa in 2012-13 on a host of different criteria including pay, working conditions, training and career development.

CRF, an independent specialist organisation, carries out a rigorous research programme aiming to monitor best practice across a number of leading African employers.

G4S is one of Africa’s largest employers and has operations in 30 African countries, employing over 100,000 people.

As part of separate research carried out by CRF, the company has also secured ‘Best Employer’ awards across many of its country-specific businesses in South Africa,  Botswana,  Cameroon,  Ivory Coast,  Democratic Republic of Congo,  Kenya,  Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.

Elanie Kruger, regional human resources director for G4S Africa, said: “We are focused closely on providing people with the tools that they need to grow in their jobs and enjoy what they do. We create a space for them to deliver value for their co-workers, clients, and the company. We see every member of our staff as an ambassador for our brand and as a cornerstone to our success. It’s only by attracting and developing the highest calibre of people that we will meet our ambitious growth targets in Africa.”
