G4S partnerships in sport
Sport is not specific to a particular language, race, religion or gender and we don’t all like the same sport, but in general terms it can engender pride and passion around the globe
Around the world, G4S is involved in sporting partnerships on many levels:
G4S 4teen
The G4S 4teen is an innovative sports programme supporting fourteen aspiring young athletes from around the world.
The young athletes, who all demonstrate the strong set of values required to develop and compete at the highest level, enjoy the ongoing support of their local G4S office and the global G4S family.
In addition to receiving sponsorship intended to enable them to focus on training for, and competing at, junior and world championships and possibly the greatest sporting stage of them all, the Olympic Games, the local G4S markets also provide training in key life skills.
They also receive the support of double Olympic Gold medallist and global sporting icon Haile Gebrselassie. An inspiration to hundreds of thousands of athletes for the past two decades, Haile has committed to mentor the team to help each athlete achieve their sporting goals.
Backing the British sailing team for London 2012
In pledging our support to Skandia Team GBR, G4S has committed to partnering the most consistently successful Olympic medal winning sport for ‘Team GB’ over the past three Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. A trend that with our support, Skandia Team GBR are seeking to maintain when the next Olympic regatta sails out of Weymouth as part of London 2012.
In addition to supporting the ‘Performance Squad’, the team from which the sailors who will join Team GB and represent Great Britain at the Olympics and Paralympics are ultimately selected, G4S is also committed to the long term development of aspiring members of the team’s ‘Development’ and ‘Transitional’ squads.
Exclusive Provider of Security Services to the team, G4S has already been working closely with Skandia Team GBR since early 2006, supporting the team at a number of regattas in locations as varied as Hyeres, South of France; Sail for Gold in Weymouth and the 2008 Olympics in China.
Supporting local sport
Cricket, football, ice hockey, polo, judo, skiing… around the world G4S supports many clubs and sports people. From sponsorship and supplying kit to helping with transport and facilities and encouraging our employees to become involved, sport plays a big part in G4S.
