Grahame Gibson, Chief Operating Officer, on US Government opportunities

Transcript:

Well the US government is probably the one sector that had a lot of money to spend. You know it’s stimulus money and all the rest of it, and that market traditionally has had a large proportion of outsourcing and so the US government business continued to grow substantially and we see that continuing. We did make a capability acquisition in 2008 with Ronco which is the mine clearance company and explosive detection company, and that has performed extremely well.

AllStar was another key acquisition because our experience with the government sector traditionally has been very much to focus on security and then into safety so we do a lot of fire protection work and things of that nature.

But in meeting our new strategy for the future we needed to get a more complete high security facility outsourcing model which means we had to get into the engineering, we had to get into the maintenance and also our acquisition gives us now that complete capability so we are now merging together AllStar with the traditional, what was Wackenhut government business into one organisation.

So we can present to Department of Energy, Department of State, and all the government sector clients a more complete solution and 2010, 2011 will be the years where we see new contracts coming through from there.
