A recommended cash offer for ArmorGroup was agreed. Acquisitions made include the Rock Steady Group of companies (UK), MJM Investigations Inc (US) and RONCO Consulting Corporation Inc (US). The intention to exit the market in France and Germany was announced and the divestment of G4S Sicherheitssysteme GmbH was agreed.2007
The business and assets of Cognisa Transportation, Inc.were sold to by First Transit, Inc., and G4S Geld und Wertdienste GmbH, the German cash services company, was acquired by a newly incorporated company owned by Dr Matthias Berg. Acquisitions made in UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Czech Republic, Serbia and Mozambique. The innovative global sports development programme, G4S 4teen was launched. A contract to provide electronic monitoring equipment and services in New Zealand was won. G4S Cash Services (UK) partnered with SmartWater Technology Ltd to protect its valuable vargoes. G4S entered the FTSE 100.
2006
G4S brand identity rolled out to all countries in the group. G4S Security Services (UK) completes licensing project and achieves Approved Contractor Status ahead of schedule. NASA awards Wackenhut Services, Inc. fire protection and emergency response contract at Ames Research Centre. G4S wins Human Resources Excellence award for “Best Executive Development Programme”. G4S India recruits its 100,000th employee. Group 4 Securicor acquired a 50% shareholding in Alfa Security Services, a market leader in guarding, alarms and cash services in Mozambique. G4S also acquired Strategic Technologies EM Inc, the electronic curfew monitoring (EM) division of STI, for a consideration of CA$3.2m (£1.5m), a 75% ownership stake in the Chilean company, Servicios Generales, Limitada (“SEGEL”) and the Congolese company, Defence Systems Africa S.P.R.L. (DSA). Jorgen Philip-Sorensen stepped down as Chairman and Alf Duch-Pedersen succeeded him as Non Executive Chairman. G4S announces a silver sponsorship of Skandia Team GBR, backing the British sailing team in their quest for Olympic gold in Beijing 2008 and on home waters in London 2012.
2005
Securicor International Valuables Transport acquired OneService, a California-based shipper of diamonds and jewellery. The divestments of Securicor Luxembourg and Group 4 Falck Cash Services UK were completed and Securicor Canada acquired Universal ATM Services, an Ontario-based provider of cash logistics and ATM services. Following the merger of the two companies and the new name, Group 4 Securicor, the new brand was launched in May 2005. Lars Nørby Johansen left the board, being succeeded as chief executive by Nick Buckles.
2004
In July, Group 4 Falck’s security business merged with Securicor to create the world’s second largest security provider. The European Commission approved the proposed merger on the condition that Group 4 Falck Cash Services UK (Scotland), Securicor Luxembourg and Falck Security in The Netherlands were divested. On 20 July Group 4 Securicor shares begin trading on the London stock exchange. Group 4 Technology acquired HISEC, a Copenhagen based designer and manufacturer of intruder alarm equipment and systems components. Group 4 Securicor’s UK Justice Services business won three new electronic monitoring contracts in England and Wales. In connection with the merger the safety and Global Solutions business of Group 4 Falck demerged. Global Solutions was sold to Englefield Capital and Electra Partners Europe, and the safety business (Falck A/S) was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange as a separate company.
2003
Securicor sold the remaining 50% of its distribution business to Deutsche Post. Group 4 Falck disposed of its shares in Wackenhut Correction Corporation and sold Wackenhut Resources Inc. which operated under the trade name Oasis Outsourcing.
2002
Group 4 Falck entered the U.S. security market by acquiring The Wackenhut Corporation, the second largest security services company in the U.S. Thus, the number of employees in the Group grew from 148,000 to over 230,000. The number of operating countries also increased from approximately 50 to more than 85 countries globally. Nick Buckles became Chief Executive of Securicor
2001
Group 4 Falck continued to play an active role as consolidator, acquiring the two South African security companies Callguard Security Services and Federal Protection Services as well as the French OGS. The Belgian cleaning company Group 4 Maintenance was sold as cleaning was not part of the Group's key competencies.
