The first 50 years
The Philip-Sørensen family established its first company in the United Kingdom and took over several small security businesses, among them AB Svensk Nattvakt in Stockholm, Sweden. The companies owned by the family were all organised under the name of Securitas International.
1945
After the war, the ‘Night Guards Limited’ was revived and moved from residential guarding into industrial security.
1939
‘Night Watch Service’ changed name to ‘Night Guards Limited’, but due to the Second World War the operation was suspended.
1935
In the UK, Former Liberal cabinet minister and barrister, Edward Shortt KC creates ‘Night Watch Services’, a modest enterprise with 4 bicycle-riding guards dressed in ex-police uniforms.
1934
The Philip-Sørensen family established a new subsidiary in Sweden under the name of Securitas AB, which the family bought from De Forenede Vagtselskaber in 1938.
1930
Falck became a nation-wide operator in Denmark.
1926
The Danish parliament passed a new fire act allowing private companies such as Redningskorpset to provide fire-fighting services for the public sector.
1918
The guarding company ‘Kjøbenhavn Frederiksberg Nattevagt’ became part of De Forenede Vagtselskaber, the foundation of the current ISS.
1915
Philip Sørensen was employed as technical director in Danske Nattevagt A/S
1908
Redningskorpset provided its first ambulance services using the first automobile ambulance in Scandinavia.
The guarding company Danske Nattevagt A/S took over ’Kjøbenhavn Frederiksberg Nattevagt’.
1906
Sophus Falck established ’Redningskorpset for København og Frederiksberg A/S’
1901
Marius Hogrefe started the guarding company "Kjøbenhavn Frederiksberg Nattevagt".
