Shaun Lowndes
After joining G4S as a Security Officer, Shaun soon learned the important skills required to do his job effectively. Shaun's skillset was well suited to the task - he was quickly able to prioritise his workload and use his people skills in a job which can often be reactive as well as unpredictable. A flexible approach was also necessary in order to meet the changing demands of the business as was the realisation that you need to be two steps ahead at all times.
Shaun soon earnt the respect of his management team, who offered excellent support as well as appropriate training and development in order to progress his career within G4S. During his career, this support has included his attendance at over 18 training courses to help broadan his operational knowledge as well as gain management experience. The training has ranged from courses in Human Resources Management to Business Ethics and Operations.
Shaun's efforts were soon rewarded when he was promoted to Regional Manager and then received a G4S recognition award.
He commented, ‘In 2007, I achieved the Performance Award, presented by the Group CEO, Nick Buckles which really put a spring in my step. I think what helped with this achievement and all the others, is the fact that I like working with people and consider myself to be versatile and enjoy the challenge of resolving issues.
I am as eager about the business now as I was when I first joined. I still find my job and the industry fascinating, challenging and unpredictable.’
