Family visits to Copper Mines
Of the 8,000 security officers, those that do a good job are not only recognised, but rewarded by one of the many employee welfare schemes in place within the country.
One of the favourites is when families are invited to join the employee at their place of work. Although a small nation, Chile is rich in natural resources, none more valuable than its copper mines and G4S provides 24 hour protection at many of these mines. This means that many of its guards are often stationed many miles away from their family homes in the cities.
In order to ensure regular contact, G4S Chile organises funded day trips to the mines for family members. This is always much appreciated as not only do family members get to see their loved ones, but they also gain a better understanding of the important job that they do.
Another favourite reward trip involves day trips to ski centres – a sport that many employees would never ordinarily get to do. G4S makes all the arrangements, lays on transportation and ensures that their employees enjoy a fabulous day out.
Cristian Vial Reyes, Country Manager in Chile commented, “I firmly believe that the image of G4S is largely dependent on our employees and their families feeling valued and feeling proud of the job they do.”
