In the next three years we would like to double our servicesin Puerto Rico,” said General Manager Luis Pagán. We hope our two new groundbreaking projects will help us achieve that goal  he added. Although Pagán tried to keep quiet about the two projects he did mention they had to do with the remote monitoring of security cameras and a new approach to tracking commercial vehicles with satellites.

The commitment to utilizing and even developing the latest technology in the security systems and equipment industry is apparent in all the company’s services. G4S provides technology services through its subsidiary G4Tec and also joint ventures with top technology companies to satisfy its unique customers needs,” Pagán said. Moreover the company offers the latest in virtual monitoring, access control and security camera installation and maintenance – including wireless cameras with IP and Internet monitoring.

Technology has also become more important in the security industry due to the events of Sep. 11, 2001. The events of Sep. 11 has forced a transformation in the security industry at the local and international levels,” said Pagán. Since that time we have had a clear vision as far as the importance of applying and including the latest security technology in our services. Never has the importance of the integration systems of CCTV [closed-circuit televisions], access control, vehicular tracking and monitoring alarms with video been higher,” he added. This integration, according to Pagán, is in addition to the high quality of human services that is needed. It is important to mention that G4S has been recognized by Homeland Security as qualified agency in the area of private security,” he said.

Though the past five years have been marked by with an increasing demand for technology, Pagán insists the future lies in the integration of new technology with an intelligent workforce. My vision of security in the next five years is is of a highly qualified and highly paid security officer who is fully trained in computers and the latest electronic security systems,” said Pagán. At the same time,” he added, the increase in technology will reduce the need for a large number of security officers, paving the way for an increase of in wages.”
