Immigration escorting
G4S is the main provider of in-country escorting within the UK and Northern France and escorted and non-escorted repatriation services overseas to the UK Border Agency. We manage safe and secure short term holding facilities at ports around the country and our staff also work at Immigration Reporting Centres. We hold, move and remove people effectively, with dignity and respect.
We provide a complete range of services, operating 24/7, which includes:
- National in-country escorting services to provide safe and secure transport to individuals, families or groups between locations that include ports, holding facilities and Immigration courts.
- Overseas escorted repatriations on both scheduled and charter flights globally, to return immigration detainees to their country of origin.
- The operation of short-term holding facilities and holding rooms at ports which provide temporary, secure accommodation for immigration detainees awaiting decisions or action on their right to enter and remain in the United Kingdom.
- The operation of safe and secure holding rooms in reporting centres.
We also operate the UK Border Agency’s asylum claimants’ transport service, Transport PLUS. This provides the safe and secure transportation of individuals who are claiming asylum, to and from initial accommodation and between key sites during their stay in the UK.
We are mindful of the fact that many of the people in our care are often at their most vulnerable, which means that detainee and service-user welfare is absolutely paramount to our organisation. With this in mind, we ensure that we employ caring and professional staff who are subject to a robust recruitment and screening process and rigorous training programme. This includes:
- Health and safety
- First aid
- Home Office approved control and restraint techniques
- Quality systems and reporting procedures
- Codes of conduct and equal opportunities policies
All our escorting movements are managed from our central control centre, utilising an integrated logistics system and the latest technology to ensure the correct combination of staff and vehicles are allocated to a move. All vehicles are also fitted with GPS technology and CCTV for the safety and security of our employees, detainees and service users.
