We are committed to the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which aims to rebuild or renew all the 3,500 state secondary schools in England.
Under the BSF programme, we are partnering education authorities to deliver new and refurbished schools. The partnerships also require the company to provide innovative and reliable integrated facilities management solutions.
CASE STUDY: North Wiltshire Schools
As part of the White Horse Education Partnership, we have a thirty-year contract with Wiltshire County Council to provide and run three school buildings at Chippenham, Wootton Bassett and Malmesbury under a Private Finance Initiative (PFI).
The buildings represent an achievement in efficient school design resulting from close consultation with the local education authority, head teachers and governors.
Our dedicated on-site facilities management team is established in North Wiltshire to provide friendly, flexible and responsive support services at the schools.
A comprehensive building and grounds maintenance regime provides first line maintenance checks and daily operations are performed by our on-site school services technicians. We ensure that sports facilities at each school are maintained commensurate with curricular requirements and we preserve the aesthetic quality of the external grounds.
Our on-site team is supported by central support specialists in professional and technical disciplines that include human resources, health and safety, industrial relations, public relations, quality assurance, communications, business systems, IT, procurement and training.
Our catering service is provided through a contract dedicated to the schools and benefits from the latest developments in food preparation and presentation. Pupils, staff and visitors enjoy a friendly, high-quality service.
CASE STUDY: Tower Hamlets
We have a twenty-two-year contract with the Tower Hamlets Schools Limited PFI Consortia appointed by Tower Hamlets Council. Our role is to provide a comprehensive integrated facilities management solution for 25 schools. Across the 25 schools there are around 10,650 pupils spanning the nursery to senior school age range and including special needs children.
We provide a helpdesk, which serves as a ‘one stop shop’ for handling customer contacts that include service requests, queries and complaints. We provide a cleaning service that ensures a clean and hygienic working environment. Our work includes management of contracted site security, grounds maintenance, pest control and hygiene services. We also carry out reactive and preventative maintenance services for the buildings and equipment at the Tower Hamlets schools.
CASE STUDY: Leicester
This project, worth £235m, will transform all 16 secondary schools in Leicester. We are part of the Leicester Miller Education Company consortium along with Miller Construction and ICT providers, Northgate Information Solutions. We will provide both hard and soft Facilities Management services.
The first four Phase 1 schools will open over the next 12 months. These are Beaumont Leys School, Fullhurst Community College, Soar Valley Community College and Judgemeadow Community College.
