Police support services
G4S offers a range of critical services to support front line policing and so release officers to focus on their core duties. These include the building and operation of custody suites and provision of purpose-built vehicles to transport detained people from point of arrest to custody.
Our services include the provision of detention officers whose duties are to assist the police custody officer in the secure detention, care and welfare of detained persons. We help police officers comply with the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the associated codes of practice whilst also performing administrative tasks associated with custody of detained persons. Our training schedules and management of staff are all cognisant of the ACPO Safer Detention and Handling of Persons in Police Custody doctrine.
We currently manage police custody suites for a number of Police Authorities that include Lancashire, Staffordshire and South Wales.
