Profile:

Margus is one of his country's most promising athletes who now specialises in the discus throw. Current world junior record holder in the discus throw, Margus grew up in the small town of Karksi-Nuia where he took up athletics because "there wasn't much to do".

After trying decathlon he soon decided to concentrate on the throwing events - discus, shot and the hammer. Since focusing on throwing, he has won titles at the 2004 and 2005 Youth World Championships in Discus and Shot Put.

Margus moved to the USA in 2008 to attend SMU university in Dallas where he is coached by one of the world’s foremost track and field coaches, Dave Wollman.

I am having a really good time at the moment, my training and throwing is going really well. I’ve just had a visit from G4S and Trans World Sport. They are filming me for a programme to go out soon, it was really nice to have them out here, I showed them around my university and my life here and I think they liked Dallas. I have been giving American Football a go and I’m playing for my collage team, it’s been good for me and really helped with my throwing. I’m now concentrating on getting the distance I need to achieve World Championship qualification.
