I live for my sport and believe that with enough hard work and a good support team I can compete for a medal at the Olympic Games in London. Updates:November 2009I’m here to learn from a legend, how great is that! What can I say, this has been quite amazing for me, to have the chance to see how Haile lives and lived has been so good. We had some busy days and had to get up early in the mornings to run with Haile but I said to myself, I am here to learn from a legend, how great is that. Haile was very generous, he trained with us, watch us sprint, gave us advice on how to improve our training schedules and talked through any issues we discussed with him. It’s quite amazing, he remembered my personal bests from the last time we met and together he helped me layout goals for next season. He may not be a sprinter but he understands training and what it takes to achieve your ambition. He really believes in us you know, from talking to him you can tell that he thinks we are good athletes and is proud to support us. On Saturday we went to the countryside far outside Addis to see where Haile grew up, it was incredible to see the reaction of the local farmers and their families as Haile walked on to their land, they could not believe it. On the last day Haile then invited to us join his family for lunch at his beautiful house. It was amazing to see how far he had come and what he has now achieved. I felt so honoured to be eating with his family, they were all so kind and welcoming, his children are so lovely kids. I can’t believe the experience I have had and seen in the few days I have been with Haile. Just from being in his company you learn so much, he always says things to me that make me want to be a champion even more. September 2009I have just got back from the World Championships in Berlin where I ran against other athletes such as Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay. It was an incredible experience, and I personally ran a time of 10.38 in the 100 metres, which got me to the second round of the competition. I couldn’t run in the 200m because I was ill, but watching Usain Bolt run his world record time was like watching a film to me! I never thought it would be possible, and was amazed to see him get more world records. At the competition I managed to meet up with my fellow G4S team-mate Fanuel. We were able to have a chat about our training and how the G4S team has helped us. We spoke about our new team mate Eduardo and are looking forward to meeting him and hearing about his sport and life in Peru, it’s great that to have a new person on the team. My main focus now is continuing my training so I can achieve my goal of winning a medal at the Olympics in 2012. May 2009I’ve just returned to Nigeria after spending some time training in Italy. I’m back here for some exams then back to Italy again and focussing on getting ready for the World Champs. |
