August 2007

I have continued my sprint training in Italy this month following our relay team’s success in the All African Games.

I competed in All African games held in Algiers and I won a gold medal in 4 x100m relay and a bronze medal in the 200m. I also attended the All African Games camp. The camp was very good. Athletes were well treated by the federation, and it helped the athletes to build up their spirit towards their goals in sports. The camp enhanced performance because of the competition thereby making athletes more focused in their area of specialization. Athletes derived joy being together in camp, there was a sense of unity. The camp was successful and at the games we achieved our dreams.

After returning from the games my focus is to now improve my performance so that I can become an Olympic gold medalist. I am working hard in my training, I train almost everyday, six times a week when I do not have any competition to attend. I am improving my start times and my endurance. In particular I have concentrated on strength training to ensure overall optimum speed is maintained during the sprint. I am just moving to Japan to continue my training with other sprinters. The experience is most enjoyable and I know I can achieve better times this year before commencing next years round of National and International competitions.

July 2007

I have spent the past 6 weeks in June and July training in Italy where I was preparing for the All African Games. The training period was very hard work but also very successful and an excellent location to allow me to improve my times for the all the 100, 200 and 400 x 100 meter sprint disciplines.

The All African Games were a great success for me, I won a gold medal as part of the Nigerian  400 x 100 meter sprint relay team which was an amazing experience. As well as this I qualified for the 200 meter sprint final following a rigorous qualifying round and gained a place on the rostrum with a bronze medal for 3rd place.

My training is going from strength to strength with significantly improved times
