East Grinstead Sports Club and The G4S Netball Centre
As part of a three-year partnership, G4S is sponsoring the development of the ‘G4S Netball Centre’ at the East Grinstead Sports Club in West Sussex, UK.
When completed, the Centre will provide nine floodlit netball courts with disabled access along with storage facilities and parking. Six of the courts will also be double marked to enable tennis to be played on them too.
The centre will enable the club to host local, county and regional netball tournaments and it is hoped that the centre will eventually become a national venue for netball where both elite and grass roots players can participate.
Netball is the fastest growing team sport played predominately by women in the UK. At the top level, the England Open Squad is currently ranked 4th in the world, with the next world Championships due to be held in New Zealand in November 2007. The East Grinstead Netball League have some 600 sports women as members and they, along with the other local leagues, need to have state of the art facilities in which to compete.
More than just financial support
G4S is not only providing financial support for the centre but they are also supporting the East Grinstead Sports Club by providing some of their own staff with specific expertise in marketing, website design and financial skills to help this new development – a great example of business learning from sport and sport learning from business.
