iShares Success for G4S Chris Draper

Print
British Olympic medallist and G4S sponsored 49er crewman Chris Draper was celebrating victory with a different crew on aboard a much larger vessel last night.

Chris and his new Olympic 49er team-mate, G4S sponsored 49er Peter Greenhalgh, both take time away from their 49ers to race Extreme 40’s and turned rivals for this particular event, with Draper helming the Oman Sail Masirah and Greenhalgh crewing on the Oman Sail Renaissance, which finished in third place overall.

Amongst the competitors were world champions, America's Cup sailors, round-the-world racers and offshore solo stars as well as Olympic campaigners and Gold medallists.

It was a tense affair for the duration of the racing, with the top three teams only separated by just one point going into the final fight for the overall title of the 2009 Pan-European series in the Port of Almeria in Spain.

The winners of the iShares Cup was eventually only to be decided, after 90 closely-fought battles on the water, on the last leg, of the last race on the last day, and it was G4S sailor Draper and his team who were to triumph in front of tens of thousands of spectators on the final day.
