Wackenhut realized several years ago that achieving ISO 9002 certification was the next logical step in our quality journey. We chose the ambitious task of becoming ISO 9002 certified because we wanted to:

• widen the distance and gain a greater competitive edge between Wackenhut and our competition;
• obtain an objective and independent assessment of our systems by an outside party;
• take a universal approach to quality and increase quality awareness overall;
• maintain tighter controls over processes and systems; and
• take our productivity improvement process to the next level, thereby strengthening our position to provide the best value to our customers.
  
  

Moreover, we realized there would be many benefits for our customers. By becoming ISO 9002 certified we would:

• re-focus our operating philosophy on preventative measures, that is creating an attitude of getting it right the first time;
• streamline our procedure for analyzing and reducing customer complaints;
• create a more efficient closed-loop control system through corrective action procedures; and
• improve upon our communications and documentation at all levels.
  
  

Since those early days in the Fall of 1997 when we began our ISO 9002 journey (now consolidated into ISO 9001) the following Wackenhut operations have been registered or are currently undergoing the certification process:

• Birmingham, AL Area Office
• Detroit, MI Area Office
• Houston, TX Area Office
• Nashville, TN Area Office
• Portland, OR Area Office
• Sacramento, CA Area Office
• San Jose, CA Area Office
• Seattle, WA Area Office
• Wacker Siltronic Project Office – Portland, OR
  
  

Although not all offices have undergone the registration process, all offices operate under the auspices of the Quality Manual that meets ISO standards.

In addition, the following key functions have achieved registration:

• Human Resources & Wackenhut Training Institute – ISO 9001:2000 registered for “The Design, Development, Management and Administration of Human Resources/Training Services.”
• National Accounts Group – ISO 9001:2000 registered for “The Management and Administration of Service Relationships and Interactions Between the National Accounts Division, Field Management and National Accounts Customers.”
