National Sponsorship to SOS Children Villages

G4S donates over R 400 000 to the SOS Children's Village nationally as part of its broader social responsibility programmes.The Managing Director for G4S South Africa, Mr Koos Schoonbeek, made the presentation as part of the social responsibility commitment. G4S began sponsoring one house at the SOS Mamelodi Children's Village which had nine children and a house mother.The sponsorship goes towards the children's education, medical costs and upkeep of the village. A considerable amount of money is invested in these homes every year to help ensure that its young residents are given good start in life. The orphaned children are provided with a family structure which gives them a good grounding to enter society as healthy and responsible adults.

Dear MD

This year we were celebrating 21 years of caring for orphaned and abandoned children. I have never seen such joy in the eyes of the children in the past as I did on Friday. You and your team have done an unimaginable task; there are no words to thank you. On behalf of SOS Children's Village Association of South Africa, we would like to thank you for hosting the Christmas Party and a Sports day. It was a day full of fun. Mr & Mrs Schoonbeek added value and a lot of fun with their presents, we really appreciate the effort and especially time taken out of work. You have achieved your goal by putting smiles in the children's faces; it is this smile that is going to shine for many years to come.

Although we are under the umbrella of SOS Children's Villages International (Austria), we are expected to be totally self-sufficient in terms of generating funds for our operational requirements. The government subsidy placed in our care only represents about 20% of income. The remaining income required to meet our needs is therefore dependent on funding and donations received from corporate organisations, private donors and the generosity of individuals.

Your contribution goes a long way in helping us fulfill our mission of building families for the orphaned and abandoned children, helping them to shape their future and contribute in the development of their communities.
