G4S Presents Cheque to CCP
G4S Technology employees, based at their global headquarters in Tewkesbury, have spent the last year taking part in a wide range of activities – from sports days and cross country marathons, to cake sales, raffles and tombolas – to raise money for their chosen charity of the year for 2012, County Community Projects (CCP).
CCP, based in Cheltenham, exists to improve the lives of children, young people, families and vulnerable adults with multiple and complex needs. CCP’s aim is to promote and support healthy living, and help maintain a safe and stable home environment.
Cordell Ray, Chief Executive Officer, CCP, said; “At CCP we are particularly concerned about the widening gap between the relatively small number of young people who leave school with poor academic and social outcomes and those who generally do much better. Particularly during this lengthy recession, we are worried that those furthest from the labour market are suffering increased effects of low self esteem, poor mental and physical health and longer spells of inactivity. These factors can lead to sustained challenges well into adulthood, which are well documented and expensive to resolve.
The very generous donation from G4S Technology will help us to tackle some of the issues faced by young people struggling to exist in today’s society.”
Howard Johnson, Technical Director at G4S Technology and Charity Committee Chair, added;
“It is very important for us as an organisation to be able to give something back to our local community. We are delighted to support the fantastic work of CCP and we are very pleased the money we have raised is going to fund an outreach programme which will engage young people in the local area.
Since its creation in October 2008, our Charity Committee has raised nearly £25,000 for local charities.”
