Information and actions for G4S Secure Solutions (USA) employees regarding COVID-19
Bank Protection Officer

April 16, 2020

Team,

While we enter the second month of managing the COVID-19 pandemic, I hope that you are all continuing to stay safe. At this time, I am saddened to inform you that the G4S team in New York City lost a member of their team, Crystal Dixon, as a result of coronavirus. Crystal was a beloved site supervisor at Hudson Yards and had been a member of G4S for four years. An Army veteran, she is survived by her two by her two daughters. The local teams have been in contact with Crystal’s family and will continue to support them as necessary. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn her loss.

G4S Heroes
Across the country, G4S employees are stepping up in the face of COVID-19. From training our new employees, ensuring our customers are secured and our frontline staff providing exceptional security day after day, the number of G4S heroes across the region continues to impress me.

As New Orleans continues to experience massive increases in the number of patients, the hospital system, like so many systems across our country, have been impacted. Our teams on duty at Tulane Lakeside Hospital continue to work exceptionally hard. Our officers work alongside nurses who are screening patients, and along with their security work are also taking on the role of consoling families impacted by the virus. These officers are working long 12-hour shifts, but every morning they return with smiles, ready and able to work.

In Kansas City, an esteemed member of the Fire Department EMT passed away due to COVID-19. Traditionally, a guard is posted to stand by the deceased member’s body but due to no visitors being allowed at the hospital, no honor guard was permitted into the building. After ensuring the hospital was covered, G4S Security Supervisor Ryan McNay personally stood guard until another G4S team member was able to take over guard to keep with the tradition of never leaving his side, ensuring the first responder was honored with respect, compassion and in tradition despite the circumstances.

In Nashville, at a healthcare corporate campus, G4S officers who staff the day care used by hospital employees for their own children were recognized for maintaining the security of the children while their parents fight the virus in local hospitals. Officers Krystale Armstrong, Lisa Gronebeck and Regina Johnson have all gone above and beyond their post orders to sanitize the daycare center following COVID-19 protocol to provide a secure environment so nurses, doctors and other hospital employees can go to work knowing their children are safe.

COVID-19 Customer Offers
COVID-19 has dramatically impacted the security industry and our teams are working to provide alternative solutions to our customers to help them identify and mitigate risks. As state and local governments are mandating social distancing as a new norm, G4S can help identify and install technology solutions that enable customers to continue securing their people and assets, while adopting a new way of doing business.

Additionally, remote video monitoring can be useful in remote locations or to secure an empty building, facility or area. G4S can permanently or temporarily install security systems that are monitored by personnel in the G4S Risk Operations Center remotely and respond in real-time to alerts and alarms that are received through video, access control or other networked security systems turning video management systems from a reactive to a proactive security measure.

G4S OnSight is a video surveillance, theft deterrence and response program that is customized for our clients. The program is capable of alerting authorities, on-site staff and patrol services to help minimize risk to people and property. Part of the ROC, G4S OnSight addresses threats such as individuals breaching a customer’s perimeter, entering restricted areas or loitering.

Educational Resources for Parents:
With schools continuing to remain closed, we understand that parents are taking on the role of teacher. For parents that may be in need of additional resources our team has produced more Learning at Home Resources for you this week:

Resources for Teenagers and Beyond
Typing Club - has typing lessons that are for a variety of language keyboards. There are no characters, and it won’t walk to you, but you will get more complete lessons and more typing practice. The lessons are broken down into small chunks so your child can learn at their own pace.
The Knowledge Society (TKS) is an accelerator program for curious and ambitious teens. Through project-based learning and real-world skill building, they train young people to solve the world’s biggest problems using emerging technologies. They are giving free online videos and lessons. It’s meant for high school, but could also be interesting for students grade six and up.

Resources for Kids 5-13 years old
ABCYa.com - contains hundreds of learning games in all subjects for grade K through 5. All of their children’s educational computer activities were created or approved by certified school teachers.
Mystery Science - Mystery Science pulled their most popular science lessons and are offering them for anyone to use for free. No account or login is needed. Lessons are provided for Kindergarten – 5th grade in the form of mini-lessons (all digital) or full lessons (digital lesson + instructions for an activity).
Reading Eggs – Offering a 30-day trial for parents. Reading Eggs helps parents and home educators support their child’s reading journey from the very beginning. The program makes learning to read fun and highly motivating for children aged 2–13.

Once again I’d like to extend my gratitude and admiration to our employees across the region. You continue to set an example and inspire the entire company with your exceptional work. Please continue to stay safe and ensure you are following guidelines from local health officials as we work to flatten the curve.

Sincerely,

Drew Levine
