Brussels airport chooses
G4S for security

Brussels airport

G4S Belgium has won a six-year contract to provide security services at Brussels Airport, one of Europe’s busiest travel hubs.

G4S will provide terminal security, passenger and remote screening, hold baggage screening, access control for VIPs, crew and general aviation personnel, and supervisor presence inside the airport authority’s operations centre.

G4S Belgium CEO, Jean-Paul Van Avermaet, said: “We recognise the importance of a balance between a high-level security presence and first class hospitality service.

In the home of the European Union, we are pleased to be working with the Brussels Airport Company to help secure this vital transport link.”

A ground-breaking approach to the contract helped G4S secure the win. The team developed an ‘output’ based contract, working closely with the customer to establish their key performance indicators. Confident that G4S can deliver over and above the customer’s requirements, G4S gets paid for the services which are successfully delivered.

G4S employs around 900 full-time staff at Brussels Airport including uniformed security officers, contract managers and trainers and has provided the security services since early 2011.

As the world’s leading integrated security company, G4S provides aviation and security services in 120 airports, across 45 countries, as well as working for 85 airlines. In Belgium, G4S also secures Brussels South Charleroi Airport, providing 400 highly trained personnel.

Across Belgium, G4S employs nearly 6,500 people and provides customers with a fully integrated security solution, combining cutting-edge technology with highly trained security personnel.
