THE CHALLENGE: OVERVIEW
One of G4S’s customers is a geoscience technology
services company who develops innovations in Earth
science, data science, sensing and monitoring.
This customer specialises in solving complex natural resource, infrastructure and environmental challenges. Their data centres are responsible for the storage and transfer of very important information and they needed to install physical measures to keep these sites secure and safe Working closely with the client and project consultants in a series of security workshops, G4S were able to to gain a deep understanding of the customer’s operations, gave the customer the reassurance they needed and went a long way to G4S securing the project.

THE GOALS
Based on the goals outlined in these meetings, G4S presented a solution based on the specifications of the project tender. The main goal was to protect the data centre from threats that could potentially compromise the confidentiality or integrity of business information or intellectual assets. Another important goal was to be able to monitor all access points of the facility via one integrated, central system. In addition to achieving these goals, G4S were able to enhance value to the customer with high level knowledge and capabilities. They provided support during the key decision making process as well as ongoing consultation.
THE SOLUTIONS
The Electronic Security Solution consisted of a Symmetry Enterprise Access Control System, integrated with a CCTV System that would prevent and detect criminal activity and provide evidence for the apprehension of conviction of offenders. The Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Intruder detection system was also installed to deter, detect and record any unauthorised entry by monitoring the movement of individuals entering and leaving the building via any of the main entrances.
In addition, the intercom solution included a Stentofon video entry system that provided communication between the lobby doors, security office, reception desk and other important locations. Everything is monitored via a main control panel, for easy observation of the entire facility.
THE RESULTS
The solution involved more than simply delivering a fully Integrated Electronic Security solution. G4S also provided additional consultation to ensure that the unique plan would meet the customer’s unique business challenges. The engagement demonstrated the capabilities of G4S in the Data Centre sector. As a result, the customer was reassured that their spend on this new Integrated Electronic Security Solution was a worthwhile investment.
