Accredited Security Training

Based on our extensive experience of delivering all induction and skills training internally, G4S offers training programmes which lead to approved qualifications, and whose quality has been recognised externally. Our induction and initial training for new recruits to the security industry complies with the requirements of BS 7499 and enables them to prove their competence so they are able to apply for a licence to practice from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). All courses are designed to introduce the delegate to the essential requirements of the security role, and ensure they have a thorough understanding of their role and responsibilities, whether in guarding, door supervision, operating CCTV or close protection. Courses offered include:

NOCN Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (three days)

This course is designed in accordance with Security Industry Authority specifications, and provides learners with sufficient knowledge to undertake employment as a Security Officer. Course content includes:

  • Module 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Module 2: Working as a Security Officer
  • Module 3: Communication and Conflict Management

This NOCN course is based on knowledge and practical training and assessment, and includes examination, assessment and certification. Online examination means that results are produced instantaneously enabling candidates to re-sit within one day, if necessary. For all SIA related training and qualifications we can provide the services of our experienced Licensing Team to process and submit the SIA licences on your behalf.

NOCN Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (four days)

This course is designed in accordance with Security Industry Authority specifications, and provides learners with sufficient knowledge to undertake employment as a Door Supervisor.

  • Module 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Module 2: Working as a Door Supervisor
  • Module 3: Conflict Management
  • Module 4: Physical Intervention Skills (MAYBO & BIIAB accredited)

This NOCN course is based on knowledge and practical training and assessment, and includes examination, assessment and certification. Online examination means that results are produced instantaneously enabling candidates to re-sit within one day, if necessary. For all SIA related training and qualifications we can provide the services of our experienced Licensing Team to process and submit the SIA licences on your behalf.

NOCN Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) (four days)

This course is designed in accordance with Security Industry Authority specifications, and provides learners with sufficient knowledge to undertake employment as a CCTV operator.
  • Module 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Module 2: Working as a CCTV Operator
  • Module 3: Practical operation of CCTV equipment (conducted using our mobile CCTV equipment)
This course includes assessment and certification.


Phoenix Close Protection

Offering a Security Industry Association (SIA) accredited City and Guilds Level 3 qualification, this three week course prepares men and women for a career in the close protection industry. G4S is the only place where you can receive Phoenix CP training - the gold standard of industry recognised security qualifications.

In addition to the Phoenix CP qualification, delegates will also achieve the Phoenix Tier One Medic course. This FPOS (intermediate) qualification is certified by Edexcel. This course will give delegates an enhanced level of medical capability to deal with a casualty in a trauma or medical emergency. This course is an integral part of the Phoenix CP course, but we are also able to offer additional places to delegates who wish to join simply for this phase.

Our ex-UK Special Forces instructors draw on their commercial experience throughout the training, providing students with a mature, informed and balanced learning experience.

Phoenix Tier One Medic Course

Our four day Phoenix Tier 1 Medic course provides specialist security professionals with an enhanced level of medical capability that enables them to deal with a casualty in a trauma or medical emergency. This First Person on Scene (intermediate) qualification is accredited by Edexcel and the Royal College of Surgeons. It is highly sought after and is ideal for those working in the security industry or travelling to hostile, adverse, remote or challenging environments.

The training includes hands on experience with multiple casualty management and triage, road traffic collision management and medical planning, as well as a systematic approach to the management of trauma. The course includes practical medical scenarios based on potential threats and situations that could be encountered when operating in a hostile environment on land or at sea.
