G4S Shiksha School

Activity:   Promoting education and Eradicating Hunger

One of G4S India’s biggest CSR commitments, was initially started in July 2004 by ‘The Hope Worldwide’ (“HOPE”) as a primary school for underprivileged children located in one of the largest slums in the National Capital Region. The focus of running the school is to discourage child labour and other activities like drug addiction, gambling and other such practices.  In 2010, G4S India volunteered to partner with HOPE and support the growth and development of the school under expansion of its CSR initiative.  Over the last 10 years, the school which had started in a temporary shed with just 21 students, has now grown into a multi-storeyed building with 300 students, and classes from Nursery to Grade 7. In addition to education, G4S Shiksha also provides amenities free of cost like mid-day meals, books, uniforms, school bags and necessary stationery for the students use.


G4S Learnium

Activity:   Employment enhancing vocational skills

G4S India with the support of HOPE Foundation, has set up a vocational training centre for the youth of underprivileged class, providing them computer literacy, spoken English program and other life skills.  This is to achieve the aim of enhancing vocational skills to the underprivileged youth which will broaden the scope of employment opportunity for them. 

This centre has been named as G4S Learnium and located in Sangam Vihar, New Delhi near G4S Shiksha School. Through this programme, training is being provided to 150 to 200 youths every year.

Asharan - Children’s orphanage

Activity:  Setting up homes and hostels for the orphans

G4S India has also adopted care of a childcare home in the name of Asharan situated at A-46, New Multan Nagar, Surya Enclave, Delhi 56, run and maintained by Hope Foundation  with the aim to provide care and protection to the young children who are orphaned and abandoned. 

The Asharan orphanage is situated in Multan Nagar near Pashchim vihar. This is licensed by the Department of woman and children Development, Government of NCT of Delhi. This is also licensed to do Indian and international adoptions


Palliative Care

Activity:  Promoting healthcare including preventive healthcare

CanSupport is a registered NGO for the care of cancer survivors. Such patients require informed and compassionate medical, nursing and emotional care. This care is known as “hospice” or “palliative care” and CanSupport has pioneered this care in north India since 1997.   G4S India has joined hands with it since a long time and actively participating in its projects. 


Prisons Crèche 

Activity:  Promoting healthcare and promoting education

India Vision Foundation (IVF) is an NGO which runs prison reforms projects in New Delhi (Tihar and Mandoli prisons), Gurgaon and Faridabad. In association with IVF, G4S India sponsors the Crèche within these jails (for the infants of female prisoners) by sponsoring their education, uniforms, food, regular health check-ups, outings, games, music & dance, storytelling, cartoon/inspiration movie, paper cutting and folding hand painting and nutritious food. The primary objective of setting up this facility was to ensure that these children have an opportunity to grow up without the stigma of (their mother’s) imprisonment as far as possible, while they still live behind bars along with their mothers. Children are permitted to stay inside the prison premises with their mothers up to the age of six years in India. The creche projects aim to offer emotional, mental and physical support to these children.   G4S India is one of the pioneer partners in IVF crèche projects. 

 

Skill development programmes for women  

Activity:  Employment enhancing vocational skills / women empowerment

G4S India sponsors vocational training centres, through IVF,  for skill development of women inmates where they are imparted various skills like literacy, stitching, textile tailoring, fashion designing, beauty culture etc to enable them to become self-dependent once they are out of the prison and start a new life.G4S has also undertaken such skill development programs, through Sulabh, for empowering village women to achieve financial independence.


Toilet construction and safe drinking water

Activity:  Promoting Sanitation and making available safe drinking water

G4S in association with Sulabh Sanitation Mission Foundation (“Sulabh”) has taken upon the responsibility to the construction of toilets in schools of rural areas, provide clean drinking water facilities & drainage work. Sulabh also conducts sanitation and cleanliness awareness programmes in schools and menstrual hygiene awareness programs among women. This helps promotion of education, sanitation, hygiene awareness among children and also helps in reducing the drop out ratio amongst the girl children in rural areas. 

Food for Relief to the underprivileged society

Activity: eradication of hunger, poverty  and mal-nutrition

G4S in association with ISKON, has taken up the responsibility to working together to achieve the objective of distribution of Hot Meals and implementing Indian Government’s mid-day meal programme in the underprivileged society.
