G4S secures NASA Protective Services contract
G4S, the world’s leading international security solutions group, has been awarded a long term contract worth up to $1.2bn for protective services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Its subsidiary, Wackenhut Services Inc. (WSI), of Florida, USA, has been selected to perform an agency-wide consolidated contract for NASA for a period of up to 10 years.
The contract is a near-doubling of WSI’s existing services for NASA where it currently provides a wide range of protective services at six NASA sites across the USA, including fire services, security services, emergency management, export control, protective services training, and protective services information assurance and information technology security.
The new contract covers all NASA’s 14 USA sites and will allow WSI to run protective services from a nationwide perspective and undertake a single, high quality approach which will deliver consistent, co-ordinated and efficient operations, training and standards across sites which have been previously run on a site-by site basis.
WSI’s Chief Executive Officer Dave Foley said: "WSI is delighted and thrilled to remain as NASA's partner to protect one of our nation's most critical programmes."
WSI is the only prime contractor for protective services across the 14 NASA sites, and will be complemented by major subcontractor Chenga Security and Protective Services, and more than10 other subcontractors.
