Celebrating Triona Hayes - Female Security Professional of the Year

Career Highlights

In her role as Contract Manager for the Cork area, Triona took charge of a large, historically male-dominated team. Facing a challenging portfolio, she implemented a solutions-driven client engagement strategy. Her hands-on approach and proactive problem-solving directly led to a 95% client retention rate in her first year, maximising the potential of key relationships and establishing them as long-term strategic partners.

Upon her promotion to Regional Senior Account Manager, Triona scaled her successful management approach across the entire Munster region. She architected and implemented a new client management framework focused on strategic partnership rather than simple service delivery.

This initiative was instrumental in driving a 15% year-over-year revenue growth for the region and her framework has since been adopted as a best-practice model across G4S Ireland.

Using her operations background, Triona recognised a gap in formal development pathways for frontline managers, Triona voluntarily designed and launched the "Munster Leaders of  Tomorrow" program. This initiative pairs experienced managers with aspiring talent to foster skills in leadership, client relations, and operational excellence. The program has been a resounding success, directly contributing to the promotion of four participants into management roles within 18 months.

Triona’s security career has been truly transformational and progressive, moving from operational delivery into a commercial role.

Championing Women in Security

Triona is a passionate and visible advocate for women in the security sector, using her position and experience to inspire and uplift others.

Triona’s "Munster Leaders of  Tomorrow" mentorship program has been particularly impactful for female colleagues. Triona has ensured that high-potential women are identified and encouraged to participate, with over 60% of mentees being women. Her direct guidance has given them the confidence and skills to advance in an industry where female leadership is still underrepresented.

Triona actively participates in industry forums and has spoken at local career events, encouraging young women to consider a career in security. As a dedicated role model, she demystifies the industry, sharing her own non-traditional path from Business and Accounting into operational and commercial leadership, making it more accessible and appealing to a new generation of female talent.
