Acknowledgement of Country
We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise the unique status that First Nations peoples hold in Australia. We acknowledge their ancestors and Elders and the special relationship First Nations have to their traditional lands and waters, as well as an understanding of their unique history, diverse cultures, customs and circumstances across Australia.
A message from our Managing Director
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to First Nations cultures and to Elders both past and present.
Building safer, more inclusive communities is at the heart of our purpose. This includes working towards genuine reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Our journey towards reconciliation has been one actively pursuing meaningful steps through Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs). Our previous RAPs have built strong foundations and relationships with First Nations communities and partners, creating learnings in which we will continuously draw upon to strengthen sustainable, thoughtful, and impactful reconciliation outcomes into the future.
These learnings have extended our lens of reconciliation to better understand our core business, sphere of influence, and diverse community of employees and stakeholders.
I'm proud of the achievements we made under those plans. We saw a rise in Indigenous employee representation and retention, implemented cultural awareness programs for employees, and supported community initiatives aligned with reconciliation goals. But we also know there's more to do.
That's why I'm excited that we're embarking on the development of a new RAP from 2024. This plan will be our renewed commitment to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It will build upon the foundations laid in the past, while incorporating fresh perspectives and evolving priorities.
We'll be actively engaging with stakeholders, including Reconciliation Australia, Indigenous leaders, and our own employees, to ensure the plan is not only ambitious but also truly reflective of the current needs and aspirations of Indigenous communities.
We recognise that our path to reconciliation extends far beyond specific RAPs. The lessons learned and progress achieved must be woven into the very fabric of everything we do. This is a commitment we embrace well into the future.

Our Partnership with The Torch
Since 2020, G4S has sponsored The Torch Acquisitive Art Prize, as part of the annual ‘Confined’ Exhibition.
The exhibition presents more than 450 artworks by First Nations artists currently imprisoned in Victoria, or who have been released in recent years. It is a powerful reflection of the over-representation of First Nations Australians in our criminal justice system and highlights the need for change.
