THE CHALLENGES: OVERVIEW
One of G4S’s customers in Africa is a high-profile company in the insurance, investment, savings and banking industry. They were in the midst of moving to new premises, and they needed to keep their operations secure throughout every step of the process.
Moving to a new location is challenging enough. However, this major company faced additional concerns as their new building was open to the public.
Their operational teams needed to find a way to ensure a high level of security in this new setting, for both the business premises and the homes of the company’s executives. It was essential to set up a system right away to track and control who had access to the new space during the relocation process.
The customer was also cost-sensitive during the tender process, so it was important for G4S to provide an efficient and resource-effective service. If this could be achieved, there would be potential for ongoing collaboration.
G4S offered a customised solution that met the company’s needs and turned them into a loyal, long- term customer.
THE GOALS
Whenever G4S provides customised security
services, the aim is to always develop long-term
strategic partnerships with our customers. The longer
the partnership, the more we are able to reduce the
costs of managing risk and further refine the quality
of the service.
The primary goal was for G4S to provide a flexible
approach to security that would meet the customers
budget needs and rise to overcome the challenges of
the new building.
This would require expertise and knowledge, in order to
craft a unique security plan that covers the essentials
yet uses resources efficiently.
This was an opportunity to implement a simple yet effective
security solution that would improve efficiency and provide
security over the long term at a manageable cost.
THE SOLUTION
In this situation, diversifying the solutions was key to success. By creating a unique mix of security services, G4S was able to offer a plan that would accommodate various factors of the new setting and provide exactly what the customer needed. Some of the aspects of the solution employed by G4S included:
- Implementing security guarding services on the premises. G4S has an extensive network of highly trained security professionals who are trained to operate proactively to prevent and react to risks and threats.
- Appointing a CPO, which stands for Close Protection Officer, to both the CEO and the Chairman of the Board. These security experts provide individualised protection to business leaders who may be the targets of criminal activity.
- Setting up security systems at the homes of all of the company executives. These technologically innovative systems monitor an area in real-time, so the team can take immediate action if something occurs.
- Enhancing security for private access areas from the public with access control systems, monitored by skilled security professionals.
- CCTV monitoring of public access areas to ensure that no threat remains undetected, specifically those that can cause harm to staff, the building and resources. With these solutions in place, G4S was able to provide a high level of security for this insurance, investment and banking company and its executives. The relocation went smoothly, and the plan was flexible enough to accommodate anything that came up during the process.
THE RESULTS
G4S was able to build a strong relationship with all the different stakeholders - especially the CEO, which was critical to the project’s success.
It was the fact that G4S was able to provide a security guarding solution, enhanced and supported by technology for all their security needs that appealed to the customer. This saved precious time and resources, as G4S was able to handle all aspects of security as well as provide a management presence.
