Quick action by G4S security guards saves driver in Brazil

A harrowing incident unfolded on the federal highway BR-381 near Nova Era, Brazil, on a Wednesday night in February, but thanks to the proactive response of G4S staff, a driver escaped with only minor injuries.

The driver's Ford Ka veered off the road close to the Praia Grande neighbourhood, plunging approximately 8 meters down an embankment beside the railway tracks. The car's location posed a potential risk to railway operations and G4S security guards Raimundo Adriano Guerra and Leandro Junior Morais Aredes, who are specifically trained to handle railway-related emergencies, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Their swift action proved crucial. Upon arrival, they discovered the driver, traveling from Governador Valadares to Belo Horizonte, shaken but with only minor bruises. Guerra and Aredes promptly coordinated with members of the Grupo de Atendimento Voluntário de Emergência (GAVE) to ensure the driver received the necessary medical attention and was safely transported to São José de Nova Era Hospital.

The cause of the accident, is being investigated by the Federal Highway Police (PRF).
