In a week when George Burley’s side start their preparation for next year’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, the new deal recognises the importance of the Scotland fans to the success of the team. The agreement will help both organisations to provide the best possible support and information for Scotland fans both at Hampden Park and at away matches.

Commenting on the launch of the new agreement, Mark Hamilton, Managing Director at G4S Events, said: “As the stewarding providers at Hampden Park our staff deal directly with Scotland supporters at every match either by offering general information or safety advice and guidance. A good match experience and the safety of fans are our first priorities and therefore sponsoring the Scotland Supporters Club was an obvious move for us. It means we can further enhance the supporters experience and helps us communicate to each fan that we are genuinely ‘here to assist you’.

Gordon Smith, Chief Executive of the SFA welcomed the new agreement, saying: "The SSC has gone from strength to strength in recent years reaching its highest ever level of membership during 2009. We are committed to continual improvement of the services we offer to Scotland fans and the G4S sponsorship deal is another important step forward in improving the experience. The spirit of the agreement and the way in which G4S have pledged to support the club will be of enormous benefit to us and to the supporters."

Scotland manager George Burley added: "The supporters mean a great deal to the Scotland players on the pitch. It is like having an extra player in our side, so G4S sponsorship is great news for all of us in the Scotland set up."

G4S Events, which is part of international secure solutions company G4S, and its management team have been providing security services and stewards to Hampden Park for over 20 years.
