Under the contract, which starts on 1 April, G4S FM will deliver catering, cleaning, security, reception, helpdesk, mailroom, building and grounds maintenance to the 450 staff based at Bayer House, located on a 3.6 acre site in the heart of the town centre.

The announcement follows an extensive tender review process designed to consolidate the delivery of Bayer’s FM services under a single supplier for the first time. The 30 Bayer employees and contractors affected will be given the opportunity to transfer across to G4S FM.

As part of the new relationship, G4S FM is refurbishing and re-launching the employee restaurant; introducing new cleaning equipment including washing machines, dryers and back-pack vacuums, as well as a new cleaning product dispenser system, to improve quality and efficiency; and using new technology to improve service delivery.

“G4S FM will bring a new and positive approach to managing the site. This is their core business and Bayer will benefit hugely from a modern approach using best practice experience, new technology and expertise from other sites,” said David Nicholls, Head of Property and Site Services at Bayer plc.  “While many of the FM services carried out in Bayer House have worked well for a number of years, the opportunity a fresh partnership with G4S provides is enormous. We continue to develop towards a new and exciting future as a Life Sciences company and the building environment is incredibly important in supporting the business through these changes,” he added.

“We are delighted to have won this contract and are looking forward to developing an enduring relationship with Bayer.  We will be delivering significant benefits, including better services for building users, greater flexibility in the management of Bayer House and multi-skilling opportunities for employees,” said G4S FM Interim Regional Managing Director Darren Jones.
