New fleet of electric G4S cash vehicles to help protect the environment
Now, an investment in clean electric vehicles will help to reduce the impact of these necessary journeys on the environment.
The movement of cash around the UK cash cycle is an essential daily service to ensure that people and businesses have the money they need to make and receive payments whenever they need to. To deliver this service, G4S carries out a significant number of cash collections and deliveries to and from businesses and ATMs every single day, requiring a large number of dedicated cash couriers across the country, and a large fleet of vehicles - big and small - for them to drive.
G4S is committed to the protection and sustainability of the environment, and determined to take the necessary steps to reduce the impact of our operations where possible. Now, a new investment in electric vehicles will reduce the environmental impact significantly.
This marks one of many measures G4S has taken to make its cash operations cleaner. For over a decade G4S vehicles have been fitted with Telematics systems that significantly improve fuel consumption and reduce their carbon footprint.
Due to the security threats posed during cash collections and deliveries, vehicles are fitted with a range of security technology, some of which require a power supply. In the past, this meant the engine had to remain on when the vehicle was stationary in a public location, however many vehicles have now been fitted with solar panels which provide continuous power when idling and reduce the need to keep the engine running.
G4S also recently signed up to the UK’s first Cash Industry Charter that will help deliver a sustainable future for cash and tackle the climate impact of the UK cash industry.
