Secure, Clean, and Reassuring: G4S marks a Quarter Century Partnership at the Epicentre of Global Road Racing

Isle of Man — As the world’s most courageous road racers prepare to tackle the legendary Snaefell Mountain Course, G4S is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone: over 25 years of delivering critical security and cleaning services to the prestigious Isle of Man TT Races.
TT Isle of Man

First held in 1907, the Isle of Man TT is globally recognised as the ultimate test of rider skill, speed, and bravery. The scale of the event is staggering. Unlike purpose-built short circuits, the TT takes place on a gruelling 37.73-mile course consisting entirely of closed public roads. Competitors navigate over 260 bends, sharp elevation shifts, and narrow stone-walled village streets at speeds approaching 200 mph.

Staging an event of this magnitude transforms the island. Every year, the TT attracts over 43,000 international visitors and a surging global digital broadcast audience of millions across 180 countries. For a fortnight of intense qualifying and racing, managing the sheer volume of spectators, vehicles, and race infrastructure requires precision logistics.

This enduring quarter-century partnership stands as a testament to G4S’s specialised expertise in securing world-class, high-profile public events. For this year's races, G4S is deploying a highly trained team of over 75 personnel to ensure a safe, clean, and seamless experience for competitors, organisers, and tens of thousands of motorsport fans.

A Friendly, Reassuring Public Presence

By managing crowds and providing friendly guidance for minor inquiries across the vast track network, G4S ensures that spectators can safely enjoy the electrifying atmosphere while keeping official channels clear for critical race logistics. This public-facing role is especially vital this year, as the event balances its usual high-octane racing schedule with the complexities of a major global media production.

Comprehensive Operational Scope

Securing an open-road event that spans nearly 38 miles requires dynamic, multi-layered synchronisation. In addition to standard race operations, G4S has heightened its security and crowd management protocols this year to support the principal photography of Isle of Man, a major upcoming American drama film from Amazon MGM Studios. Produced by Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum, and starring Tatum alongside Eve Hewson, Ciarán Hinds, May Calamawy, and Ruaridh Mollica, the Hollywood production has integrated its filming schedule directly into the live race fortnight. G4S is working diligently to ensure that both the elite sporting action and the high-profile film sets operate safely side-by-side.

G4S's diverse operational responsibilities include:

  • Crowd and Access Control: Managing vital access and egress points, grandstand seating, and car park stewarding to ensure safe traffic and pedestrian flows.

  • Production and Set Security: Collaborating with event organizers and film crews to secure live filming sets, including restricted areas on Glencrutchery Road and the Mountain Road, protecting high-profile talent while managing heightened spectator interest.

  • Safeguarding Race Assets: Securing start and finish lines, the pit lanes, remote bridges, exit RV parks, and the event's most prestigious physical assets—the historic TT trophies.
  • Emergency Support: Deploying an on-site floating mobile security officer to tackle localised crowd surges, alongside a dedicated team of nine specialists in Ramsey to manage critical road closures. Helipad Security: Managing 24/7 security at the emergency helipad to facilitate unhindered access for critical medical airlifts.

Sustainability at the Finish Line

True to G4S's forward-thinking commitment to sustainable operations, the team handles full cleaning services across race control and public areas, with a heavy focus on recycling and litter picking.

In a significant environmental step aligned with upcoming tender specifications, the G4S workforce has completely phased out single-use plastic water bottles, ensuring that the legacy of the TT Races remains green as well as safe.
