Building Urban India the Smart Way Conclave
G4S India, a leading security solution provider, focuses on the need for security in building 100 smart cities at the 'Building Urban India the Smart Way 2015 Conclave' organized recently by Business World. The conclave brought up various issues related to urbanization, building sustainable and cost effective mass transport system for cities. It also highlighted the importance of public-private partnership in streamlining fast-paced urban environment.
The day-long conclave witnessed participation from leading members of the government and industry, where insights were shared by some eminent experts/leaders on various aspects that are critical in building smart cities. Some of the eminent speakers at the conclave included Isher Judge Ahluwalia, Chairperson, Board Of Governors, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations; Balwinder Kumar, Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority; Sunil Mantri, President NAREDCO and Chairman, Mantri Realty; Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation; Ranjit Sabhiki, Eminent Architect associated with Delhi Master Plan; Rajeev Talwar, Executive Director, DLF.
During the discussion on 'How do we go about building 100 smart cities?' Mr. Ashok Bajpai, MD - G4S India said, "Smart cities are not only important for the nation but for the common man as well. In the next 15 years, urban population will contribute about 75% of India's GDP. Given the fact that these cities are driving India's growth, the timing is absolutely right to work towards building these 100 smart cities. Safety is an element of smartness.
