A Strong Theft Reduction Strategy

G4S provided security guarding services for a large oil company, helping them combat an issue with theft from both inside and outside.

THE CHALLENGES: OVERVIEW

One of G4S’s customers is an oil exploration and production company, located in Gabon. They work to increase oil production and reserves in Africa by redeveloping fields and extending field life. This customer sought the help of G4S because they were facing an issue with frequent theft, from both inside and outside the company.

This problem was negatively impacting the customer’s business and although the previous service provider had attempted to fix the issue, they had not been able to successfully curb the thefts.

THE GOALS

The goal of this partnership was for G4S to develop a custom strategy designed to drastically reduce the thefts, if not entirely eliminate them. Also, a secondary goal was to improve the safety and professionalism of the entire premise and create a conducive environment for conducting business.

After meeting with the customer to learn more about their needs, we aligned our security guarding services to support the smooth running of their business operations.

THE SOLUTION

For this customer, we implemented a highly-trained security guarding team that would efficiently meet their needs, reduce the losses and make the entire premises safer and more secure. In order to ensure a high level of quality in the service, it was important to train staff with a strong grounding of our G4S values. We made sure our team of security professionals understood and shared these values, so they would be engaged and motivated to deliver a high standard of service at all times. We also ensured that the team was well-supervised and coordinated, so that they could perform as effectively as possible.

THE RESULTS

Thanks to the specialised solution set into place, G4S has managed to reduce the incidence of theft at this location. Many of the suspects in this theft have been arrested and some have been prosecuted - which is a significant improvement from the previous provider.

As a result, the customer continues to partner with us and rated G4S’s performance at 80% with only a few operations issues to address.
