A team of expatriate and South Sudanese colleagues deliver a broad range of Mine Action tasks in environmentally and climatically austere conditions in areas of South Sudan that remain vulnerable to conflict.

between October 2015 and January 2016 the G4S Integrated Clearance Capacity (ICC) Team were deployed to Aswa in South Sudan. During this period they cleared a hazerdous area of 220,110 square metres, using special purpose Remotely Operated Vehciles (ROV) and Manual Techniques (MT) to conduct minefield clearance tasks.

During the clearance process the team found and destroyed 298 AP mines and three items of unexploded ordnance. Upon the completion of the clearance and quality assurance procedures, which were overseen by the UNMAS, the area was declared free of hazards and released to the local population for cultivation.

The teams are committed to providing Mine Risk Education to children and adults who cultivate the land and Mine Risk Education has now been delivered to over 7,515 children.
