Data Ethics Policy
1. Introduction
At G4S Security Services A/S, the integration of advanced security technologies necessitates a proactive and structured approach to the data supporting these solutions. While data protection (GDPR) establishes the legal framework for our operations, this Data Ethics Policy defines the ethical principles that guide our decision-making. We recognize that upholding the individual’s right to privacy is essential to maintaining the trust of our customers, employees, and business partners, and is a core component of our corporate responsibility.
2. Our Principles for Data Ethics
G4S commits to the following five pillars, ensuring that our security solutions provide safety without compromising human dignity:
-
Security & Foundation: Security is the foundation of our business. We maintain the highest degree of IT and physical security measures, including ISO 27001 certification for our cloud platforms and mandatory National Police approval for all employees.
-
Responsibility & Purpose: We only process data that is strictly necessary for the security task at hand. We ensure that data collected for protection (e.g., access control or surveillance) is never repurposed for unethical tracking or unauthorized commercial use.
-
Accountability & Governance: We take full ownership of the data lifecycle. This includes strict adherence to "Retention and Deletion" policies and ensuring that all employees receive the proper training to comply with both law and ethical standards.
-
Transparency & Rights: We believe in clear communication. We strive to ensure that individuals understand when they are being monitored and what their rights are, supported by our internal "Awareness" and "Internet Use" policies.
-
Equality & Algorithmic Fairness: We ensure that our technology does not reinforce bias. Our CCTV analytics focus on behavioral patterns and silhouettes to identify threats, ensuring that no processing is based on ethnicity, gender, or age.
3. Sources of Data
In G4S, we process several types of data to provide elite security services, including but not limited to:
-
Personnel & Recruitment: Data regarding job applicants and employees.
-
Operational Video Material: Footage obtained from security cameras during alarm activations to identify and document potential intruders.
-
Customer & End-User Data: Information regarding our customers and their respective users (e.g., access control logs) to maintain secure environments.
-
Sensitive & Classified Information: High-level data handling for specialized and critical security contracts.
4. Use of Technologies (CCTV & Access Control)
G4S utilizes advanced technologies to distinguish persons from objects on CCTV. We apply an ethical "Human-in-the-Loop" principle to ensure our security electronics are used responsibly:
-
Automated Assistance: Technology is used to filter environmental noise and identify potential risks efficiently.
-
Human Validation (SOC): Critical security decisions and interventions are always validated by trained G4S professionals at our Security Operations Center (SOC).
-
Ethical Sourcing: We select hardware and software providers who mirror our commitment to data integrity, transparency, and ethical surveillance practices.
5. Governance and Reporting (Annual Account Compliance)
To satisfy the requirements of Section 99 d of the Danish Financial Statements Act, G4S maintains a robust reporting structure:
-
Integration: Our data ethics performance is integrated into our "Business Ethics Code," "Human Rights Guidance," and "Speak Out!" (whistleblowing) platforms.
-
Continuous Improvement: We monitor technological trends (such as AI and facial recognition) to ensure our ethical framework stays ahead of societal expectations.
-
Annual Reporting: This policy is reviewed annually by the Board of Directors. A statement on our data ethics activities—including how we have addressed new technological risks and the results of our ethical initiatives—will be included in the Management Review of the Annual Report.
6. Approval
This policy was approved and revised by the Board of Directors of G4S Security Services A/S.
Last Revised: March 2026.
