The Marlborough Disability Unit at Port Phillip Prison cares for some of the most cognitively impaired offenders within the Victorian correctional system, including offenders with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

To support the safety and wellbeing of everyone living and working on the Unit and to provide an environment more suited to rehabilitation, G4S Disability Coordinator, Michelle Enbom, recently introduced a Sensory Room fitted out with black out blinds, coloured lighting, bean bags, sequined cushions, a projector, stereo and sensory toys, to provide offenders with a calm space in which to relax and regulate emotions.

Since opening, the Sensory Room has been very popular and has resulted in improved communication and mood management.
