G4S Events,  the UK’s leading event safety and security company, has been awarded a contract to be the sole security provider at the Liverpool International Music Festival, a ground breaking new summer concert series being held for four days over the August Bank Holiday.

The G4S team of more than 100 employees will be providing a range of security and safety management services during the festival including conducting ticket checks and bag searches and providing perimeter security as well as offering crowd management support and rapid response teams to help the police deal with inappropriate behaviour.

G4S has a strong tradition of working in Liverpool, having been the providers of security at Aintree Race Course for the last 20 years. G4S will secure more than 1,000 political, sporting and leisure events during 2013 and has already secured more than a million fans at The Championships, Wimbledon; the Silverstone British Grand Prix; the Test matches at Headingley and Old Trafford; and the T in the Park music festival in Scotland.

The Liverpool International Music Festival will have a range of events: from the internationally acclaimed Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra taking to a brand new stage in Sefton Park for an evening of live music to two outdoor stages located at the Pier Head, including a tribute to the Beatles and their musical legacy.

Eric Alexander, Managing Director of G4S Events (UK), said:

“Every year G4S provide security services at thousands of music events across the United Kingdom and we have a great track record of supporting events in and around Liverpool. By working in close partnership with the organisers of the Liverpool festival we expect to be able to provide the highest level of security and safety support to ensure that visitors enjoy the festival.”

Susan Lees, Head of Event for Liverpool City Council, added:

“This will be the largest music event to held in Liverpool this summer so visitor safety is paramount. It is vital that we have a security and safety management team who understand our needs to help us provide a safe and fun environment for visitors. We are really glad to have G4S Events on the team and we are looking forward to working with them on what promises to be a fantastic event for the City, those who live here and those who are coming to visit.”
