G4S, the leading global integrated security company, has committed its support for the United Nations Global Compact Business for Peace (B4P) initiative. B4P was launched globally in September 2013 and in the UK in June this year. G4S has been a global signatory of the UN Global Compact since 2011.

B4P is designed to help companies to implement responsible business practices while operating in high risk and conflict affected areas. The initiative also aims to ensure companies bring about positive change to the regions in which they are operating by promoting stability, positive development and the advancement of peace.

G4S signed a Statement of Support alongside other Global Compact partners on 29th September 2014.

Nigel Lockwood, Group CSR Manager for G4S, said: “We are delighted to have joined Business for Peace. G4S is consistently working alongside NGO’s and governments in high risk environments to support humanitarian, stabilisation and reconstruction efforts and this reinforces our commitment to being a socially responsible business. Addressing the impact of our business on human rights, labour rights and anti-corruption are key priorities for us and we look forward to working with other signatories in our endeavours.”

“The Business for Peace initiative complements our existing support of the ‘International Code of Conduct for Private Security Providers’ and implementation of the ‘UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights’ and provides us with another opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to raising industry standards and best practice in high risk and conflict affected areas.”
