About the G4S 4teen

The G4S 4teen global team is comprised of 14 young international athletes from 13 countries brought together as one united team. Despite their different backgrounds and a dynamic mix of Olympic sports, all the youngsters have one common goal – to compete at the London Olympics in 2012.

Conceived to nurture and support a new generation of young stars from around the world, the initiative attracted the exclusive support of legendary two-time Olympic gold medal winning athlete, Haile Gebrselassie. The Ethiopian marathon world record holder is the Ambassador of G4S 4teen and a mentor to the young sportsmen and women, and meets with Palas to pass on valuable advice and experience to help him in his sporting career.

In addition to receiving financial support to help him with training, equipment and travel to major competitions, Palas is provided with strong pastoral support and training in key life skills such as English language lessons.

Palas has had a promising career to date and is proving to be one of the wrestlers to watch on the international circuit. After returning from the recent Pan American Games with Gold medal after an impressive win G4S presented him with his very own brand new bed. A determined and talented athlete, Palas has his sights firmly set on qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games and will not stop until he achieves that dream.

The children of the Ciudad de los Niños in Lima, Peru enjoyed a unique day of sporting fun with one of the country’s most talented young wrestlers. Eduardo Palas paid a special visit to the centre to treat the excited children to an unforgettable G4S Sports Day.

Before the activities begun, G4S and Palas, surprised the children with the donation of new sports equipment provided by G4S to mark the beginning of an ongoing relationship between the organisation and the world’s biggest security firm. Palas, who is aiming for the London 2012 Olympics, kick-started the activity-filled afternoon by teaching the enthusiastic youngsters new sports skills and games, allowing them to enjoy a unique opportunity of playing with a Champion Athlete.

Commenting on the sports day, Palas said: “you know, it’s really nice to be giving these children an afternoon of fun, some of these children remind me of when I was younger and all I wanted to do was play sports so it is really good to be giving them the chance to do that. It’s also nice to help G4S as they have done so much to help me.”
